How to Create a Closed Ecosystem Oct 14 2011

What are closed ecosystems? Closed ecosystems can be big or small, and the most important is that ecosystems are where animals can live, eat, sleep, and attract new animals. An ecosystem is where biotic and abiotic elements can interact and meet their basic needs.
Materials: To make a closed ecosystem you will need a clean jar or a see through container with some sort of lid that lets no air in. You will need small rocks such as gravel or some sand. Then you will need to get some water, but not tap or filtered water. Next you will need a few biotic (living) elements such a crayfish, snails, or maybe even a little gold fish. Some weeds such s duckweed or any regular weeds. (When you pull out the weeds make sure to also pull out the roots.)
Steps: First you will need to take your jar and only rinse it out with water because if you rinse it out with soap it will die. Once you have rinsed out the jar you need to put some rocks/sand in the jar. If you have rocks rinse them of VERY well then put them at the bottom, if you have sand just put the sand in. Next you need to gently pour the water (not filtered or tap) into the jar, you should pour it over the sink so if you spill it doesn’t make a big mess. After that you need to take the weeds and push the roots underneath the rocks/sand so the roots can stretch and the plant will grow. You could also put in some algae if you want to add more appearance to your ecosystem.
Now you have made your very own closed ecosystem, leave your ecosystem for 1 or 2 months without human interference and see how long it can survive.

Digital citizenship is…citizenship is being kind, loving, and supporting someone or something in real life. Digital
citizenship is where you are being kind loving and supporting on the computer. You can’t and you don’t, have to be bestfriends with everyone but you still have to be nice to everyone. Digital citizenship is important because it tells people to be nice and kind and if no one was kind then the world would be filled with hate.

What sites have you joined on the internet? Facebook.
How much information did you give them? My name, my e-mail, age, date of birth, gender.
Have you filled in more than the *asterisk questions? Not usually.
What did you find when you googled yourname? I found lots of pictures of really old people.
Are you on the web for sports teams, named in newspapers and whereelse? No
How many cookies or footprints are you leaving behind? I think that i have left behind 12 years of cookies and footprints. I think this because when you are born you are born in a hospital, there is a footprint of you being born there, when you are a few weeks old and can’t be left alone your parents bring you to a mall to buy you some toys and clothes, there is another footprint, when you are celebrating something such as you being 1 year old mabye your parents bring you somewhere special, somewhere you have never been before like a park, you are leaving a foot print. On the computer you leave cookies, from when you were 4 years old to collage. We all leave footprints of ourselves whether we know it or not.
